Born and raised in Canada's Capital, Mary-Jean Harris has loved stories and the imagination her entire life. She began writing in her young teens and has been crafting stories ever since. Mary-Jean writes fantasy, historical, and philosophical fiction. All things magic and wonder! She loves to research history and philosophy to weave seamlessly into her novels, crafting compelling characters to explore ideas and embark on adventures through worlds we know and those of the imagination.
Her first novel, Aizai the Forgotten, was published in 2014, and since then she has released the novella Perilous (2018), Shadows of Aizai (2018), and Night of the Immortals (2021). Expect to see her next historical fantasy coming soon! In addition to her longer work, Mary-Jean has published various short stories in anthologies and websites, which can be explored here.
In her free time Mary-Jean enjoys being out in nature, reading (of course!), doing math (yes, for fun!), and performing through her princess party business. She is the dedicated owner of Fairytale Princess Parties in Ottawa, bringing magic to children throughout the city! Mary-Jean is also a tutor for science and mathematics and has Bachelor's and Master's degrees in theoretical physics. She loves animals and has an adorable cockapoo named Luna (named from the Harry Potter series).
